Saying NO

By seeingstars

So I have come to the conclusion I can’t say the word No to anyone. Even when I really want to say the word no, it never comes out as the actual word no, it comes out as sure I can or yes I would love to.  For example: Can you cover my shift?, Can you work late,  Can you come in early, can we trade days,  Oh ya I planned this and you need to be here by this time.

I know I do it to myself because I just don’t say no. But how does one obtain the word no in there vocabulary. I have been programed to say Yes.  So frustrating.

I understand. However, I want to point out to you the little talk you gave me last weekend about what you learned at church. :P
This sound strangely like something I was watching on TV last night. It was a documentary about addiction, and some lady from some impressive university was explaining how addiction works. The “GO” system in your brain gets a little too uppity, you see. And before the temporal lobe, or the center for reasoning and good decision making has even had a chance to react, you’ve already started doing whatever it was you’re addicted to. It sounds like your “GO” system is a little uppity. Are you addicted to yes?

so. if tanda said “no!’ to jess’ “are you addicted to yes” question…would it be theraputic or just a lie?
    just wonderin…

i used to have this very problem. then i decided…my time is my time. who has the right to infringe on it? so i say no on a regular basis. funny…people don’t feel the need to ask quite so ofen now. and when t they do i am more inclined to say yes because i feel it’s a genuine need.

which leads me to this thought…perhaps they…whoever they happens to be…tend to ask you because you never say no.
asking you is their conditioned response to the fact that you never say no.
    two addictions here..theirs and yours..
break the cycle tanda! your time is yours. be kind about it, but do with it as you will.

and that’s all i have to say about that.
